The Hamptons Shoulder Season

June and September (although I would add October, one of my favorite months on the East End) is ofter referred to as the 'shoulder season' in the Hamptons. All the great things that are part of the summer months of July and August are available in the fall, without some of the larger crowds that can shadow your experience.

Part of what makes the Hamptons so wonderful is the natural setting we call home. The setting sun; the rising sun works too but some are not actually able to get up that early, myself included. The beach. Swimming in the sea (no lifeguards in September, but if you are a strong swimming and can bring a buddy, the average temperature is 67 degrees, not that much colder than August’s 71!) Walking the wonderful trails, will find you the changing colors of fall, and empty paths to contemplate where you want to be with your life. A quiet dinner at some of the finest restaurants in the land is doable. And, you don’t have to reserve a table weeks in advance.

In other words, the shoulder time of the Hamptons is not to be ignored. As for a time to sell your house? It’s one of the most successful times of year.
